Obituary of Elaine M. Pugliese

Passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 14, 2024, at age 96.

Predeceased by: Her husband, Patrick Pugliese; Father, Charles McCaffrey; Mother, Amelia McCaffrey; Brother, James McCaffrey; Sister, Jeanne McCaffrey

Survived by Her Children, Thomas (Lisa), James, Charles, Robert (Peggy), John (Lee Ann), and Nancy; Ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Elaine Laurette McCaffrey Pugliese was born in Rochester NY on 8/11/1928 and lived in Rochester on Roslyn St. until her family moved to Covington St. in Irondequoit. She attended Our Lady of Mercy High School and then Brockport St. University where she met the love of her life, our Dad, Patrick Pugliese. They were soon married and raised 6 children, first in Irondequoit and then in Pittsford. She travelled with her husband to some exotic places like Curacao and Bermuda. Dad died in 1978 at age 52. Mom had to reinvent herself at age 50. She got a job at St. Mary’s hospital in the records department and worked there for many years until her retirement. 

We, her family, were the joy of her life. Every visit was met with an excited greeting. Food and laughter soon followed until it was time to say goodbye. We will never forget her standing at the side door waving goodbye as we backed the car all the way out of the driveway, no matter the weather. She loved her family more than anything and when given her last rights, with her last words she said, "I love my family”.

Please join the family on Wednesday, September 18th at 9:30 AM for her Funeral Mass at St. Louis Church, 64 South Main Street, Pittsford, NY 14534. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
