Obituary of Marc Raymond Gillespie
ROCHESTER - Passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2024, at age 71. Survived by his life partner, Lisa McCarthy; Daughters, Danielle (Matt) Witt; Adrienne (Ryan) Brandt; Stepmother, Janet Gillespie; Grandchildren, Wolf and Lois Larkin Witt; Bonus grandchildren, Kellan and Sydney Brandt, Lillia and Connor Deloff, Matthew and Kayleigh Carpenter; Siblings, Brad (Sue) Gillespie and Darlene (Paul Stein) Squires; Nephews, Gregor and Torsten (Katie) Gillespie; Niece, Andrea Gillespie; Also, many friends, clients and outlaws.
Marc was born in Indiana in the spring of 1953. He graduated from Haverling Senior High School in Bath, NY in 1971. He went on to attend Corning Community College and received his Bachelor of Science degree for Environmental Resource Management from Penn State University in 1976. Marc went on to obtain his Master of Science in Management degree from The American College in 1991, followed by the many designations acquired throughout his career as a Financial Advisor.
Throughout his life, Marc was a competitive athlete in several disciplines, most notably wrestling and marathon canoe racing. Whether paddling, running, biking or personal training, his love for exercise and inspiring others to exercise was unwavering. He had a tremendous passion for the outdoors and helping coach and support others in any way possible. He was a lifelong supporter of various local charities.
Marc was a very loving and devoted partner, father, grandfather, relative and friend and will be deeply missed by his loved ones.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 29, from 3pm – 7pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, N.Y. On Tuesday, please join the family for his Celebration of Life at 12pm at the White House Lodge at Webster Park 1100 Lake Road, Webster, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Camp Good Days and Special Times. Marc was planning to ride in the Tour de Teddi for Camp Good Days and Special Times in September and already had the following donation page setup: https://fundraise.givesmart.
**For the Celebration, Adrienne will be holding a short service around noon with celebration to follow. Please feel free to wear your favorite shirt that reminds you of Marc or the color green if you want! He would want everyone to be comfortable. There is some indoor seating available but if you would like to sit outside, please feel free to bring a lawn chair**
