I was saddened to learn of Marc's passing. I was a first year wrestler, but wrestled Marc early in 1971, was pinned in 39 seconds, and was the most humiliating experience of my life. Two weeks later, I pinned my first opponent at Corning West. Marc was in attendance and came down after the match to congratulate me for my win. He said to me, "I'm so glad you didn't wrestle like that against me." Even if I did, I may have lasted a few more seconds. Marc was a tremendous athlete, and I am honored to have been an opponent of his on the mat.
I ran into Marc several times at canoe races in the subsequent years when he was always very friendly and kind to me. He was a great guy. Rest in Peace, Marc.

Tremendous, marvelous, wonderful, superb, could go on and on to describe the man Mar"c" was. He touched so many lives, just being Marc. I most admired how he touched my family's life from Shannon to Ethan and myself. Mostly how he had devoted his life to you. You were meant for each other. I can hear Marc saying
Don’t cry for me, I’m alright
I am better than you know
And this life can be a short ride
So don't waste on sorrow
We're both headed for the same place anyway
I just beat you there

Marc was not only our advisor. He was our friend. He assisted us in making good choices for our future and our family. But most of all he was a good, kind, fun , and patriotic man. We should all strive to be like him. Go in peace dear friend and be with God.

Lisa and family of Marc,
I was so saddened to hear of Marc's passing. Marc was a great customer of mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. I always enjoyed hearing about Marc's many adventures and he was always a bright spot in my day. Sending my deepest condolences to Lisa and family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Marc was a mentor to me and a motivator for good things always. Marc pushed me and everyone around him to be the best they could be. He never had excuses and did not allow me to either. I respected him for that and learned to be independent and push toward goals and through any challenges. Marc was funny too. I’ll never forget our stops after races for beef Jersey, ice cream, pork rinds basically anything we could find to replenish what we left behind on the water when canoe racing. Marc we’ll miss the energy and passion you had for everything and everyone around you. Sorry you had to go too soon. Wish we could have one more race together. Thank you for sending me the pictures I’ve shared here for everyone after wishing you happy birthday for one last time. I hope there are some nice rivers to paddle on up there….

Marc,
It was a pleasure to watch you paddle a canoe. Your skill on the water was pure poetry in motion. Your dedication to our sport showed the depth of your character and the content of your soul. May your journey continue in the afterlife with a light canoe that tracks straight as an arrow on a river through a valley of peace.

Marc, although we were introduced in a professional setting that quickly grew to a friendship that I will always honor and treasure. I have many fond memories of your incredible career achievements as well as our "very early" morning runs with Colby before continuing onto the office and then a seminar that evening. Hosting you and your family in my home, as you prepared to run as a fundraiser for Camp Good Days in the 100th edition of the Boston Marathon, and returning the favor by allowing me to watch Superbowl XXXIV in your home. Marcy and I extend our deepest condolences to and your family at this most difficult time.
I know it hurts. It's okay to cry. We'll get through this. HaMakom yenachem et'chem b'toch sh'ar avay'lay Tzion vi'Yerushalayim.
May God comfort you among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

To my heart and soul...while Heaven gained an angel, we have lost a truly incredible man here on Earth. I miss you so much already and can't imagine my life without you. While we only had 8 short years together, they were the best years of my life. You completed me and made me a better person. You believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. My heart is beyond broken and the grief is weighing heavily on my soul. The signs you are sending me bring me momentary relief. FLy high my love until I can join you.

It often felt like Marc Gillespie was super human, because he was. He was always one step ahead and had already thought through every detail for any situation life could present.
He was the father of two incredible daughters who have been two of my most favorite people on this planet for many years. He raised them to be tough but caring in all things they did, just like him.
Rest in Peace, Marc. Your girls and their families are loved by so many and we will surround them with unwavering love and support each and every day.

MARCUS, I want to thank you for all you have done for me for the past 32 years. I wouldn't be where I am at if it wasn't for you. You were there for me when I had to deal with a little illness. You wanted to drive me places, you picked me up from the hospital, you would tell me I should go home because I wasn't hitting on all eight, he knew when I was in pain, he wanted to throw my trash out. He would bring delicious soup that Lisa had made, he spoiled me. He was like my little brother. We had a lot of fun in the office, the day usually started off with HEY MEATHEAD HOW YOU DOING, I would respond in Italian, words not fit to print. We just laughed. Unfortunately. it will never be the same, I am lost for words, I miss him. MARCUS rest in peace. GOD BLESS SOME DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN. JOE C

Marc was one of the most caring person I have ever met! He always took great care of everyone especially my Aunt Lisa. He was the best person to come into her life. He made sure to always take care of me with whatever I needed. He even took me to my first ever college football game. Thank you Marc for all the amazing memories and being one of the best guys in my family!

Words can’t possibly cover it dad. This is unbearable pain, but I’ll take it because it meant I got to be yours. What a blessing it is to be your daughter and be so much like you. Thank you for every single thing you’ve done for me in this life. I love you so much, and I always will.
