Obituary of Amy J. Koenig
Amy Koenig passed away on July 14 at the age of 65. She left this life in the arms of her husband, Dave and her children Stephanie and Zach. She and Dave had been married for 43 years. Amy is predeceased by her parents Edward and Lillian Carlucci and her brother Edward Carlucci. She is survived by Dave, her children Stephanie (Allen) Licata, Zach (Cait) Koenig and Michael Koenig. She was a loving Nana to Jack and Ben Licata, to Lizzie Koenig and her little brother who will be born in September. She was also a sister to Suzanne (Allen) Weber, brother David (Debra) Carlucci, and sister in law Debbie Carlucci. In addition, she leaves her in-laws, Carole and Harvey Koenig.
Amy was wonderful. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, a giving mother, an awesome Nana and generous friend to all. She loved family get togethers. She baked fabulous birthday cakes for her grandkids. She loved being with friends. She was generous to a fault and always went above expectations on gifts or hosting dinner parties. Amy loved watching the Buffalo Bills, she loved Motown music, she loved seeing live music whether it was a national act or a local talent like her good friend, Cinnamon Jones. She was funny and always quick with a come back. She especially loved cheering the kids for little league, football, soccer, wrestling, swim and rugby. Amy didn't like being the center of attention but, she would subtlety organize the fun and all the little extras that no one else would think of. She looked forward to her Wednesday day-off lunches with her friend Karen, family pool parties at Andrea and Matt's house and going on impromptu adventures with Dave. She loved the 60th Surprise Party that Dave and the family had for her. She retired on May 1st and had planned on going on trips with Dave and their friends-in-laws, Deb and Doc.
On June 21st, Amy had an ultrasound for a pain she had been experiencing. The ultrasound and CT showed tumors on her liver and bones. In 23 days she was gone.
The family gathered around her, Dave played some songs for her and at 6:12 pm, she opened her eyes and looked at Dave for the last time.
Amy, we all loved you and miss you but, we are all better off having had you in our lives.
"And death is not an issue
It cannot break my heart
And I don't have to miss you
We'll never be apart"
