Obituary of John Lee Curry

John Lee Curry passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 18, 2023, at 85 years of age. He is predeceased by his parents, Christopher and Rosa Mae Butler, his brothers Christopher Jr., and Roger Curry, and his sister Carole Wilson.

John is survived by his sister, Patricia Sutton, and his brothers Stanley (Carmen) Curry and Lamont Curry, several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 4-7pm at Falvo Funeral Home, 1395 N. Goodman Street, Rochester, NY, 14609. A service will also be held at Falvo Funeral Home on Saturday, October 28, at 1pm. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

John’s passing has rendered his normally talkative and raucous family speechless. He was loved by everyone who encountered him; and his kind heart was a force of nature. John was a chef’s chef, with his most formative years spent working at The Manhattan Restaurant. He shared his kitchen knowledge with his surviving relatives, ensuring his delicious recipes will continue.

In a better world, John would have been a historian. He had an impeccable memory and served as the family’s archivist and holder of stories. He was dignified—a true elder statesman. John will be missed by all who had the gift of meeting and knowing him.
