Carie Kay

Obituary of Carie A. Kay

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 24, 2023, at age 56 after a three year battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Cancer. Predeceased by her father, Robert. F. Stoklosa; Survived by loving husband, Bill; Daughters, Jenna and Emma; Mother, Carol Lenahan; Siblings, Pam Walsh, Rob (Kelly) Stoklosa, Dave (Mandy) Stoklosa, and Doug (Kelly) Stoklosa; Also, many nieces, nephews, and an army of friends.

Carie grew up in Cheektowaga, NY and was the first person in her family to graduate from college, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from St. Bonaventure University in 1989.  She and Bill met at St. Bonaventure in 1987 and they were married in 1993.  She had a successful professional sales career working first in the insurance industry at Safeco Insurance, followed by work in the placement industry at the Plaza Group and then in the pharmaceutical industry with both Schering Plough (Merck) and Novartis.  She then transitioned her career to advocating for children with disabilities in the education system. Carie’s true passion was providing love and support to the people in her life who meant the most to her, and she was fiercely loyal.  As a parent, she dedicated her life to being an incredible mother and best friend to Jenna and Emma, they were her world.  As a friend she was thought of as someone who always found time to take care of everyone else around her while never wanting recognition for her deeds, she did things because she truly cared about her people.  As a spouse she was Bill’s everything, his best friend, his wife, and his soulmate.  She will be so missed, but her legacy will live on through the ripple effect of kindness she created wherever she went.

Carie loved Disney World and Family Vacations.  She prioritized her family above all else and made their time together meaningful everywhere they went.  She loved mimosas on special mornings, dinners with friends and cocktailing with the ones she loved.  If a bartender (or her husband) could make a good Cosmo they were a friend for life.  She was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and made every game an event for the people she loved, not just a Sunday afternoon in front of the TV.  It’s hard to describe in words what a truly life giving person Carie was, but for those who knew her they understand!
