Obituary of Penelope Elizabeth Leask

Penelope “Penny” Leask passed away peacefully at the age of 79. Penny was raised in Akron, OH and received her bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Akron. She is survived by her son, Dan (Dawn) Leask; her daughter, Michelle (Chris) Dodd; her brother, Jerry (Sandy) Cash; her 5 grandchildren, Hannah, Ryan, McKenna, Nathan, and Andrew along with several nieces, nephews, beloved cousins in Australia and many dear friends. Predeceased by her husband, William Leask, mother, Katherine “Joan” Rennie and father, Wesley Cash.

Penny was an avid volunteer. She served seven years on the Webster Central School District Board of education and was president of the Webster board her last 4 years. She then went on to hold numerous leadership positions with the New York State PTA, serving as vice president then the state president from 2002 - 2005. Penny was also actively involved with the Webster Museum and Historical Society house preservation committee.

Penny’s greatest love was her family.  She loved spending time with her 5 grandchildren, watching soccer games, boating, fishing, and sharing her creativity when crafting with the kids.  She enjoyed vacationing in the 1000 Islands, visiting her brother Jerry and family in Florida, trips to Australia to visit cousins and travel with her dearest friends.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Maplewood Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to Penny throughout her final years.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, Donate to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (michaeljfox.org)
