Penny, You were a great role model for me - being an avid volunteer (not being able to say no), a great friend, loved your family (your highest priority), very humble but getting others to follow your lead. We shared many common interests and had many adventures together. First school boards and then PTA. I was fortunate to be a Vice President during your 3 year term as President of New York State PTA and then on the State Board with you after your presidency.. For much of this time we were making a couple of trips per month to Albany. I usually drove Ms. Penny on these 8 hour round trips. The State PTA Board bestowed on me the "Driving Ms . Penny".title. What an honor and pleasure. Spending 8 hours on boring Interstate 90 meant we covered many topics and create a great friendship. We never argued or disagreed on anything and covered our kids every time - both of us were proud parents. She obviously did a great job as a mother and as an educational leader for New York. I will always appreciate our friendship and the many memories that we shared.
BTW, my compliments to whoever wrote the obit and the funeral card - both captured Penny very well.Sleep well with Lord-- you have earned it

I have many memories of Penny, growing up on Hitchcock Lane. When I was young, I remember thinking “I can’t wait to go play at Michelle’s house.” Any chance I got to go to the Leask’s, I took it. We played in the basement, built forts on the back porch, and whenever Penny was making lunch, she’d always invite me to stay. I remember being thrilled to eat lunch at the kitchen table and have chips and a sandwich or whatever she was pulling together for us. Being entertained by Dan was always an added plus. Penny was extremely busy, keeping the household going. I was amazed at how organized she was, and remember thinking, she is such a strong woman. Taking care of her family was always #1. I was so impressed with her taking on a leadership roles with the PTA. I remember her taking phone calls in the kitchen. She carried herself with such confidence, and she was a decision maker, well respected, and wanted to contribute and make a difference. She set such a great example, for all of us. She will always be loved and remembered on Hitchcock Lane.
Our sincerely condolences to Michelle, Dan, and the entire family. ❤️
-Love, Kristen McNeil (Knowland)

Penny was kind enough to invite me to stay with her while I was visiting from Australia. She was so kind and caring and made me feel so welcome. She gave up a full day just to drive me to Niagara Falls and took me out and about all around Rochester.
I feel very lucky to have spent time with someone so loving and warm and was very sad to hear of her passing.
Sending love from Aus to her family x

Dear Penny,
I will truly miss you. I so enjoyed our time together at the Webster Museum and all of our conversations. You taught me so much about the museum and were so welcoming to me when I was just starting my volunteer work there.
I know how much you loved your children and grandchildren and your happy, loving spirit will live on in them.
God Bless you and rest now in God’s loving care.
Love,
Rosemary

My dear friend Penny, the times we had together, we both joined PTA in Webster when our children were young. Together we ran for the Webster School Board and of course the Webster Museum, Penny loved history, together we worked on the Exhibit committee, Historic property committee. we took short vacations together with our buddies, Susan Kurtz and Marcia Turpin.
She was a pal and helped me paint and decorate our home. she loved crafts and loved teaching us. I will miss her.
To Dan, Michele. my prayers are with you she loved telling about your families. She loved the game of soccer and watched in the nursing home. A wonderful spirit has left us , she will make heaven beautiful. Jan Naujokas

I had the pleasure of serving on the Webster Board of Education with Penny. She did a outstanding job of advocating for the children, staff and the community. Only my debilitating illness will keep me from expressing my feelings, thoughts and prayers in person. May she rest in peace with Bill in heaven. Charlie Styles
