Obituary of Frances Lucy Monachino
Frances passed peacefully January 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, having just celebrated her 96th birthday. She was known to all as a kind and loving woman whose gift to everyone was most often shared in her cooking. Not only did she love to cook for her family, she spent most of her career in the Penfield Central School system as a cook manager who prepared meals for the children and staff in her school as if for her family. She was also very proud of having served as the cook manager for the campers and staff of the Rotary Sunshine Camp Haccomo for many summers, sharing her love of cooking with some very special people. She was truly the family matriarch who could make a wonderful meal out of anything available, and cheerfully declared that all of her most favorite foods had “no calories.” While she and her late husband Paul enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends around the world, nothing was more important than being at home with her family, especially her great grandchildren who gave her such pleasure.
She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years Paul, daughter Cynthia, brother Angelo Spinello and sister-in-law Sue, and sister Louise Parinello and brother-in-law Anthony.
She is survived by her sister Dolores Zarcone, daughter Paulette Miller (Mack), son Paul (Nancy); grandchildren Joshua Miller (Nicole), Michael Miller (Hope), Alex Monachino, Paula Mencucci (Anthony), Leah Monachino, Amy Monachino (Dean), Bradley Schurr, Christopher Schurr (Renee), Amanda Hermann (John); Great grandchildren Alex and Catie Miller, Paul Miller, Charley Monachino (mom, Peg), Dominic and Cecelia Mencucci, Ryan Schurr, Alyssa and Kendra Schurr, Makayla and Kaitlyn Conway, Anthony and Sean Hermann, Samantha Adams (Josh) and their daughter Violet, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be observed on Thursday, January 5, 4-7pm at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd. Webster. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, Friday, January 6 at St. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd. Penfield followed by interment in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Marsh Road, Pittsford.
In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice in her memory.
