Nathaniel Holmes III
Passed away surrounded by his family on November 10, 2022 at the age of 73. Nat is survived by his wife: Denise; and children: Brandon and Tricia, siblings: Joseph (Poppy) H Holmes III and Suzanne “Suki” Welch; numerous nieces and nephews: Alison Welch, Whitney Welch, Hilary (Dave) Petrowski, Phoebe (Dave) Knight, Carolyn (John) Coffey, Jamie (Aarin) Holmes, Greg Ryan, Catherine Ryan, Suzee (Tim) Meehan, Ashley (John) Cordo, Emily Kellam, Cameron Kellstein, and Emma Kellstein; a number of great nieces and nephews; and Great Pyrenees: Sherlock and Lola. Nat is predeceased by his son: Nathaniel Holmes IV; his sister: Carolyn “Colly” Holmes, and parents: Carolyn “Millie” Holmes and Joseph H Holmes Jr.
Nat graduated from New Canaan High School and Franconia College. He was a Journeyman Carpenter and loved working with wood. Following his Father’s example, his favorite volunteer role was with the New Canaan Fire Department. Nat loved being a father. He relished being Brandon’s greatest fan at Penfield High School hockey games. Nat instilled an interest in current events and politics in Tricia. Nat married Denise in 1986 and remained steadfast in his love throughout 36 years of marriage. Nat’s greatest loss was the death of Nathaniel and they have now been reunited.
The family will receive friends at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, N.Y. from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, November 22. Nat is planned to be buried at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan CT on December 10.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (StJude.org) or to a charitable organization of your choice.
