Mary C. Haas

Webster: Mary Catherine (Neary) Haas, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 31, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 17, 1938, Mary was the oldest daughter of the late Natalie and Andrew Neary, both of whom emigrated from Ireland and resided in Rochester. Mary graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1956. She was married on April 25, 1959 to her husband William (Bill) Haas, her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 61 years.

Mary cherished her family and leaves behind her husband Bill; her daughters Karen Wight and husband Tom of Webster; Linda Ayer and husband David of Boston; and was predeceased by her son, Brian Haas of Webster. She was a devoted grandmother to Ryan, Thomas, Natalie (Wight), Jordan and Catherine (Ayer); sister to Peggy (Chuck) Seitz and Debbie (late husband Greg) Pelcher; and aunt to several nieces and nephews.

 

Mary worked as an X-Ray Technician at Rochester General Hospital upon graduation from high school. After marriage she dedicated herself to raising her three children and in later years joined her husband in the family business, working part time for Connors-Haas Inc. She loved to travel and entertain her family and friends at Conesus Lake and Bonita Springs, Florida.  Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. Mary will always be remembered for her generosity, passion for shopping and pride in her Irish heritage.

Due to the pandemic, the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated privately at Saint Rita’s Church and streamed live, Monday August 3rd at 10am. https://stritawebster.org/watch-live.html. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
