Helen Doherty (Flaherty)

Rochester - On May 18, 2019 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her 7 children at the age of 85. Predeceased by her parents, James and Charlotte Flaherty, and her sister, Noreen VanCleefe. Survived by her daughters, Mary (Dennis) O'Keefe, Charlene Doherty (Andy Bennett), Margaret Hindl (Jerry Stickland) and Geraldine Doherty (Curtis Clegg). Her sons, Michael (Debbie) Doherty, John (Christine) Doherty and Thomas Doherty. Her brother, James (Thais) Flaherty. Her sister, Mary (Hans) Bauchman. 11 grandchildren. 4 great-grandchildren (1 on the way). Many nieces, nephews and great friends.

Helen was an alumnus of Our Lady of Mercy High School. A retired employee of the County of Monroe. A past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Noraid. She was inducted into the Irish American Hall of Fame 2008. Helen was not only a loving mother to her children, but to everyone who came to know her. Her laughter and music will be greatly missed by all of us.

Calling hours, TUESDAY 4-8 PM at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd. On WEDNESDAY family and friends are asked to go directly to Holy Apostle Church (530 Lyell Ave., Rochester 14606) for the celebration of her Funeral Mass at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Apostle Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
