To the family of Helen Doherty,
It is with much sadness that I read of Mrs. Doherty's passing in the paper. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. Some of my fondest memories are of her and many of you. I had the good fortune to be brought into the family when I was about 18 years old through Charlie (Charlene). I remember how sweet Mrs. Doherty used to say County of Monroe when she answered her work phone. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Even though I was not of Irish descent, I was included in the glorious St. Paddy day celebration. Mrs. Doherty was a loving and generous soul. She always treated me kindly and I will remember her in my thoughts and prayers. I have been called out of town this week or I would have been there to pay my respect to her and to all of you. I can think of no better way to end this note than by quoting:
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."
Sincerely,
Debbie (DiFrancesco) Spencer
