Obituary of David Alfred Miller
David Alfred Miller, age 61 of Bloomfield, NY, passed away on June 2, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic while recovering from a lung transplant. He is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Patricia (Maid) Miller, step-mother Patricia (Feidner) Miller, and niece, Katie Maxim. He is survived by his loving and patient wife of nearly 30 years, Joanne (Duncan) Miller, seven siblings Gregory (Bonnie) Miller, Carolyn (Mark) Maxim, Sharon (Stephen) Girolmo, Mary (John) Watson, Timothy Miller, Christopher (Suzanne) Miller, and Eric Miller; stepson Michael Meyer (Cathy) and four grandchildren; sister-in-law Cheryl (Robert) Fassanella; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friends Joseph McEntee, Mark Steubing, and Jeffrey Lennox; and beloved dog “Ruby.” A graduate of Aquinas Institute and SUNY Fredonia, David carried on his family’s accounting legacy into the third generation as owner of the David A. Miller, CPA, accounting practice and retired after nearly 40 years as a “bean counter.” He was an avid outdoorsman and Certified NYS Guide who vigorously pursued his passions--hunting, fishing, boating, backpacking, and golfing, and like his father before him, treasured the many friendships he carried with him throughout life. A man of many talents, he was an ardent reader who consumed the works of Mark Twain and committed to memory the lengthy saga poems of Robert Service, with which he would entertain companions around a campfire. Noted for his sardonic wit, kindness, and bravery, he inspired, entertained, and gave fortitude in the face of insurmountable odds.
