Obituary of Patrick K. Gillespie
Patrick K. Gillespie, beloved husband, cherished father, adored "papou"/grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly in Rochester, NY on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the age of 70.
Patrick was born on January 20, 1954 in Watertown, NY to the late Robert and Patricia Gillespie. He grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Indian River High School in 1972. He moved to Rochester in 1974. He began work in the Paper Mill at Kodak in 1975 where he met his loving wife, Nancy. He had a successful 31 year career at Kodak until his division was dissolved. His work was so specialized that he was unable to secure a similar position locally so in 2006 he became a proud bus driver for Webster Central School District and was fondly called Mr. Patrick. He loved the kids, the environment, and the people he worked with.
Patrick found great joy in helping others and would drop what he was doing to help a family member or a friend in need - no matter the day or the hour. Over the years, he volunteered in many Catholic parishes and in a variety of roles. He was passionate about the guitar and played in a number of churches over the years, most recently Our Lady of Lourdes. In addition, he loved the Beatles, open road drives in his corvette, history, math, quantum physics, long walks, and time with his family.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy Gillespie; his daughter, Sunni (Kurt) Ingalls; his grandchildren, Sean Ingalls and Kyle (Kara) Ingalls; and his great-grandchild, Nathan Ingalls. He is also survived by his siblings: Timothy (Kathy) of Stafford, Margaret (Marshall) Beck of The Villages, FL, Carol Gillespie of San Francisco, CA, Joan Burke of Syracuse, and Laura (David) Spicer of Calcium. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well.
Patrick was predeceased by his mother, Patricia, in 2007; his father, Robert, in 2017; his brothers, Michael in 2017 and Ronald in 2003; and his sister, Janet, in 1956.
Patrick K. Gillespie will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
