I am so grateful I ran into Josie this past summer. Through the years she always greeted me with her warm smile and would ask about my boys. My sympathies to her children — a mom is usually missed like no other.

To Josie’s family, I can’t tell you how shocked and sorry I am for the passing of Josie. Very hard to get a grip on…I just spoke with her just this past Saturday afternoon…she had called to ‘chat’ as she loved to do, she spoke about your Dad and how much she missed him and also to wish me a happy belated birthday. She was in very high spirits. Just can’t believe as you her family are just as stunned.
She was a lovely lady, always walking around the neighborhood with such a happy face, greeting everyone. She will be very missed by one and all and please accept my condolences to your entire family.
Sincerely,
Barbara Leathersich

To all of the DeLuca family
I can’t say enough about this wonder, beautiful soul. Josie was the kind of person that whether you knew her for 5 minutes or 50 years she mad you feel important and that she was listening to what you had to say! She was kind, authentic, happy and knew everyone.
Josie’s family was always the first priority in her life. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin.
You always knew how much she loved her husband and family.
She always looked out for my children when the were at Laurelton. Always asked for them after they moved on. Actually even if we hadn’t seen each other for a few years the phone would ring and it would be Josie. She always checked on us and was sincerely interested in what was happening in our lives. She was just a beautiful person in and out. A sincere friend to all. I always referred to her as the “Mayor of East Irondequoit “. She took care of everyone.
It will be a difficult time for all of you for awhile. Eventually you will rely on your wonderful memories of a wonderful woman called, Mom and Grandmom. She will be missed by everyone who knew her You have my utmost sympathy and condolences.

To all of Josie’s family, Tom and I are very saddened to know of Josie’s death. She and Leo were married on the same day as we were, and honeymooned at the same place in Miami Beach. Although we didn’t see them often, we’ve enjoyed knowing them and getting together occasionally over the years. Josie was always sweet and friendly when we got together and often spoke highly of her family. You were fortunate to have her as a mom/grandmother. May your memories of her bring you peace.

Sincere sympathy to Josie’s family! I met Josie when I was very young on Wadsworth Street where my grandparents lived. We had lots of fun and I couldn’t wait to go to my grandparents house to see her. Later we went to the same high school and Josie and I were good friends throughout high school. I was happy to see her at our reunions and glad I have some nice photos of her. I know what a beautiful person she was inside and out!! She will be very much missed!!

When I think of Josie, I think of warmth and love. I feel very lucky to have known her. Josie would work in my classroom often. She always kept a positive attitude and never seemed bothered, even when I would have to ask her to work with some of the most challenging students. She did it all with love. Josie would always ask me about my sweet baba, who was battling cancer for most of the years that I knew Josie. She always cared, always asked, always loved. I remember Josie always bringing gifts for coworkers who just had a baby or their child had a birthday. Josie was incredibly thoughtful toward everyone. I remember Josie sharing stories of her wonderful husband. She loved him and her kids so very much. How lucky we were at LP to have Josie as part of OUR family! I will miss Josie very much. I feel so lucky to have known her.

Sweet Josie so many childhood memories of being with you and Mary, the best baby sitters 3 little girls could ever ask for. Lunchroom memories, as I grew into adulthood you would visit me at my stores and we would talk, then you would watch my Tommy at school. We never lost touch thanks to your love of shopping and Justice Kim and I would connect again you are a light that will forever shine. My love to Mary, your children and all your grandchildren
