Obituary of August L. Cirel

August L. Cirel "Augie", of Penfield, NY, passed away on July 28, 2024 at the age of 91.

 

Predeceased by his loving wife, Marie, his parents, Rosario and Sylvia Cirincione, brothers Sam (Tessie) Cirincione, Joseph (Diane) Barrows, Patrick (Josephine) Cirincione.  He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Michael) Serinis, Charin (Paul) Greco, Sandra (Daniel Jr.) DeLaus; grandchildren, Kristin (Jeffrey) West, Daniel (Amanda) Greco, David Serinis, Christopher (Kathryn) Greco, Alyssa (Joshua) Corbett, Brittany (Spenser) Cohen, Mara (Bennett) DeLaus, Kendra (Travis) Crevier, Daniel DeLaus III; great grandchildren, James, Ethan, Lorelai, Isabella, Elliot, Sofia, Ashton, Colton, Maddison; brother-in-law, Joseph (Theresa) Ange, sister-in-law, Joanne Manard, long-time companion Toni Ferrera, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

 

Augie graduated from Franklin High School, was a veteran, serving in the Army during the Korean War era, and had a 30-year career at the Rochester Telephone Company. Augie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, He was out-going, friendly, charming, caring and a good listener.  For over 50 years, Marie and he were very active and engaged in numerous social activities, including traveling (loved their cruises!), visiting casinos, bowling and dancing.  Augie also enjoyed playing golf, bocce ball, euchre, watching Yankees games and golf tournaments.  As a longtime member of the YMCA, he was motivated by both a commitment to exercise and a desire for social interaction. In recent years, he enjoyed Sunday breakfasts at the Nutcracker with Toni, and attending monthly dance events with friends. He centered his life around family gatherings and found joy in the company of family and friends. 

 

Augie demonstrated remarkable strength and an indomitable will to live as he valiantly battled chronic kidney disease.
