Obituary of Anthony M. Costanza
Anthony M. Costanza "Tony"
The man, the myth, the legend passed away on July 18,2024 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.
Tony was beloved and is survived by wife Neysa. Also survived by daughters Kimberly, Karen and Kathleen and son Andrew (Christine). Much loved grandchildren Rachel (Stephen), Adam (Megan), Emma (Dylan),and Claire. Many nieces and nephews who adored their incredible Uncle. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Maureen Fay, Adrianne O'Hagan (Kevin), Regina Fay and by brother-in-law Peter Fay (Lorrie). Predeceased by parents, sisters Lillian and Mary and brother Charles, nephew Bill Buttaggi and niece Joann Buttaggi, sisters-in-law George-Anne Pittaway, Valerie LaDue, Josephine Costanza and brothers-in-law David Fay, Joe Buttaggi, Joe Marletta also predecease him.
Tony had an illustrious banking career commencing in 1955 as a note teller at Central Trust Company. He progressed through the ranks culminating 50 years later as a Vice President with M&T Bank. His banking career afforded him the opportunity to have long lasting relationships, with many businesses. He was very proud of the role he played in helping businesses become and remain successful. Tony was also a trailblazer in his time. He was the youngest Vice President with Central Trust. He was the first male PTSA president at his son's school. He coordinated fund raising in order to build a playground and submitted recipes to a cookbook as the only male contributor!
More importantly, Tony was a family man. He especially loved large family gatherings. Being Italian, food was a passion and no one enjoyed food more than him. He was an accomplished cook and was known to invent some interesting, yet delicious, meals. The only food he turned down was liver but would suffer through it because Neysa liked it.
Tony was an avid bike rider and some of his best times were when he could go on long bike rides with the Rochester Bike Club and with Jerry and Bill.
It's difficult to put 86 years of a life in an obituary. Tony was one of a kind. May his memory be a blessing. The stories we, as a family, recollect although repeated many times, never fail to bring smiles and laughter. He was a man among men and if you were his friend, you were lucky indeed. Yet, the luckiest people were his family who were able to call him ours.
