Obituary of Timothy D. Romeo

Rochester - Timothy Dominic “Tim” Romeo, AN (USN) was called home to heaven on July 4, 2024 after a protracted battle with cancer.

Born in Rochester, NY on March 4th, 1960, to Peter P. “Pete” and Marietta T. “Terry” (Iaia) Romeo, Tim attended St. John the Evangelist elementary school, Interim junior high and the Aquinas Institute.  He proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D Eisenhower CVN-69 from 1980 until 1984, earning a Service Deployment Ribbon in the process. Tim later attended the Community College of the Finger Lakes before working at Bausch & Lomb and the University of Rochester Medical Center; he was a self-employed painter for many years as well.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Marietta I. Romeo, and is survived by his father, Peter P. Romeo; brothers Peter J., CMSgt, USAF (Ret) (Pamela), Stephen A., LS (Carol), Christopher J., Thomas J.; sister Lauri; brother Martin J., PhD (Deborah, MD); and cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to list.

Known for his deep and abiding fondness for Labrador retrievers, Tim regularly enjoyed the company of other dogs and their people at local parks for decades. He found a calling in the restoration of headstones in various Monroe County cemeteries and was a member of the Pittsford Cemetery Association for several years.  Tim was formally recognized for his cemetery work with the Historic Pittsford award in 2016 and a Town of Pittsford commendation in 2018. Above all, Tim was a devoted and loyal son, cousin, nephew, grandson, uncle and brother; a patriotic veteran; and universally regarded as a gentle, humble, faithful servant of God by the countless people whose lives he touched.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 10 at the Church of St. Jerome (207 Garfield St, East Rochester, NY). Inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (2461 Lake Avenue, Rochester, NY). In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org) or the Humane Society of Greater Rochester at Lollypop Farm (www.lollypop.org).

We are exceedingly grateful to Tim’s oncology team at Wilmot Cancer Center, of whom Tim spoke incredibly highly, and to his many friends whose support and companionship meant a great deal to him throughout the years.  Arrangements entrusted to Falvo Funeral Home.
