Obituary of Carl J. Grovanz
March 10, 1943 - June 18, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carl Grovanz on June 18, 2024, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. His optimistic spirit and fighting heart shone through until his final moments, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and friends.
Born in 1943, Carl spent over three decades with Xerox, where he left a lasting legacy before retiring at the age of 56. Retirement did not slow him down; instead, he built his dream home on the shore of Lake Ontario. There, Carl embraced life to the fullest—hosting memorable gatherings, delighting in cooking for loved ones, nurturing his flower and vegetable gardens, and setting the sky ablaze with fireworks every Fourth of July.
Carl's joy was amplified by his commitment to the Rotary Club, where he dedicated nearly 50 years of service. His love for the outdoors was unparalleled—hunting, fishing, golfing, and simply relishing nature. Alongside his beloved wife of 24 years, Linda, Carl traveled the world, exploring new cultures and creating cherished memories in countless destinations.
His life was enriched by his loving family, who survive him: his wife Linda; his sons, Joe (Theresa) and Mark (Erica); grandchildren, Chris (Eliza), Michael, Joelle, Jeremy, Zachary, and Brittany; sister, Gloria (Paul); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was joyfully anticipating the birth of his first great-grandson, the child of Chris and Eliza due on July 17. Carl was predeceased by his first wife of 28 years, Barbara and his younger sister, Marlene.
Carl was a beautiful soul with a kind and gentle heart, whose joyful spirit and unwavering love left a profound impact on all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered not just for the life he led but for the love he spread.
