John F. Lockwood

1946 - 2024

John leaves behind his loving partner of 20 years, Barbara Reiber; daughter MaryAnne Lockwood; son Gary (Irene) Lockwood; son-in-law/daughter-in-law Paul (Cheryl) Raleigh; daughter-in-law Laura McKenney; stepson Collin Beck; his 11 beloved grandchildren who gave him so much pride and joy, Taylor, Emma, Sara, Colton and Johnny Lockwood, Addison, Owen, Reese and Wyatt Raleigh, Lucas and Camden McKenney; close family friend, James Wells; as well as many lifelong friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Lockwood, he is survived by his sisters, Peg (Lance) Bowen and Rose Pilato, and many nieces and nephews.

John was born and raised in Irondequoit, New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the USS Rupertus during the Vietnam War. Once a sailor, always a sailor, John had a love of boats and anything with an engine. John’s career as a plumber began working alongside his father in the 1960s. In 1973, he established John Lockwood Plumbing out of his home in Webster, New York.

For more than 40 years, John was a dedicated Daytona 500 ticket holder. He always had a NASCAR race on the television and he could give you a play by play after every race.

As the anchor of the family, John’s favorite thing was to spend time with family and friends at his home and cottage on Sodus Bay. Of all the roles throughout his life…father, partner, brother, son, friend and business owner…his most cherished role was that of being Papa to his grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of John’s life on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 12 p.m. at John Lockwood Plumbing, 357 Timothy Lane, Ontario, New York 14519. Please join us and share your favorite memory of John. A military service will take place at 12:30 p.m.
