Obituary of Koun Khiosida
Mr. Koun Khiosida, a loved and dedicated family man, passed away from lung cancer at the age of 82 on May 23, 2024, in Webster, New York. Born on May 13, 1942, in Laos, he immigrated to the United States in 1981.
While living in Laos, during the Vietnam War, Mr. Khiosida served as a soldier with the Royal Lao Army. After the war, he fled with his family to pursue a better life in America. With assistance from the Mountain Rise United Church of Christ in Fairport, NY, Mr. Khiosida and his family settled in Rochester, NY. Despite language barriers, he was able to secure employment in manufacturing, where he supported his family with unwavering commitment until his retirement at age 79.
Mr. Khiosida and his wife were able to connect with the Laotian community and carry on their traditions by spending time at the Wat Pa Lao Buddhadham Temple in West Henrietta, NY.
Mr. Khiosida's love for his adopted country was equaled only by his passion for fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. His work ethic and love for family will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Left to honor his memory is his cherished wife, Boutsy Khiosida, his beloved children Khampoun Southivongnorath, Thounkham Storti, Santi, Bounthavy, Khamla, sons-in-law Saksavanh Southivongnorath and Michael Storti, daughters-in-law Christina and Souphaphone, and his adored grandchildren Johnny, Ellena(Michael Terenzi), Kyle, Christian, Noah, Almanza, Ethan, and Allen. Mr. Khiosida's legacy will live on through his great-grandchild Enzso, and he will be missed by numerous other relatives and close friends.
The family will welcome visitors for the wake at Falvo Funeral Home, located at 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd., Webster, NY, on May 31, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
