Obituary of Richard W. Ewin

Passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2024, at age 74. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Rosemary Ewin. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wendy; Son, Casey (Jennifer) Ewin; Daughter, Dena (Frank) Botticelli; Grandchildren, Brooklyn, Shelby, Reighly, Cali, Eviana; Siblings, Michael (Patty) Ewin, Ronnie (Sharon) Ewin and Tracey (Randy) Hilderbrandt; nieces Ashely, Amanda and nephews Jeff, Steven, Alex, Zack, Ben; Uncle Jack Driscoll; and cousins, Diane, Kathy and Kelley.

Ric was born in 1950. The eldest of 4, growing up in Greece, N.Y. He was a loving brother, father, grandfather and friend to all. He had a lifelong love of cars and Jackson’s Bakery. From go-carts as a kid to drag racing in his adult years (whether it was Lake Ave or the track), to most recently as the track tech inspector at Empire Dragway. He took pride in skeet shooting alongside his dad and the many friends he made along the way.

Ric and Wendy met in May of 1973, married that September. Their love brought them 50 years of marriage. They were partners and best friends in this life they had together. They shared so much joy in watching their children and grandchildren grow. He was so proud of them.

He was a man of many names; Ric, Ricky, Dad, Baba, Cuz, are just a few. His lasting impact on the people he met is something unique. He would go above and beyond to make sure everyone was ok. If you had a problem with your car, he would be right there to help. He was truly one of the good ones. Ric had the ability to light up a room and could always make you laugh with his witty and quirky jokes.

Ric (“Mr Ric”) was a staple at DK Dance and loved being a part of the joy that it brought to so many people. He would often just sit in the waiting room and “shoot the breeze” whether he knew you or not. He was everyone’s friend and supporter, and was so proud.

Our world will forever be changed without him in it but his love, influence, and smile will be forever embedded in our hearts. We love you.

“How are you? - Better now that I’ve seen you”.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 3pm - 7pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, N.Y.
