Obituary of Lay Tes

ROCHESTER- Passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, age 75.

Survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Samnang Than; Children, Peou (Sovandy) Tep, Sheenah (Michael) Goodison, Linda (Brandon) Sterner, Alan Tes, Sandy (Mikhails) Dizhgalvis, Jeana Tes; grandchildren, Rachana (Brian) Bacon, Ethan Suong, Omarri Cooper, Gabriela, Lily, Emmett, Mimi, Elliott, Edward, Emily; great-granddaughter, Haley; many dear friends.

Lay Tes was an only child and was an orphan at an early age. He knew he wanted a big family and was fortunate to raise five daughters and a son. A survivor of the Khmer Rouge Regime. He immigrated from Cambodia to the US in 1981. He’s admired for his hard work and strong work ethic. He was a mechanic; also, a machinist for over 40 years; retired from Park Enterprises. He came to America speaking little to no English, no money and was able to create a life for his family. He exemplified The American Dream. We remember him as a story teller. He shared his experiences with us. He enjoyed Sundays going to Flea markets. He was a collector of tools and working on cars. He could spend hours watching The Antique Road Show and he loved fishing.

He will be missed by all.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 16 from 4-7pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Frpt. Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, NY 14580 (Route 250.) On Saturday, please meet the family at 10am in Falvo Funeral Home for a blessing that will take place at 10:30am, a graveside service will be held at 11am at Webster Union Cemetery 345 Webster Rd. Webster, NY 14580. A reception following the burial will take place at the Dragon House Restaurant 2200 Penfield Rd. in Penn Fair Plaza, Penfield, NY 14526 at 12:30pm, all are welcome to attend.
