Obituary of Lawrence J. Giangreco D.D.S
Lawrence J. Giangreco, DDS passed peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 9 surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born in Rochester, NY, attended East High and graduated from the University of Rochester despite suffering a severe neck fracture in his freshman year, causing him to spend that year in traction and in a half-body cast. After graduating from the University of Buffalo's dental school he became a respected dentist in the Rochester community, practicing for 60 years, finally semi-retiring at the age of 87.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Ida from Valguarnera, Sicily.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia, his wife of 65 years. It was with her that they found their passion for dancing.
He is also survived by his 5 children and their spouses, who were just as much children to him: Joe and Sue, Cherie and Rich, Larry and Christine, Gary and Meg, and Terry and Tricia.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Jamie, Holton, Schuyler, Ella, Larry, Gina, Haley, Nick, Luciano, Vincenzo and Domenic; and his great-granddaughter Evie.
And he is survived by our treasured angel Wanda; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends.
Larry passionately loved his family and inspired them to become their best personal selves and to love and cherish each other. This was indeed his greatest gift.
He also was addicted to the game of golf ("shooting his age" at 83), and was an avid swimmer, doing both until his 90's. In earlier years he was an exceptional bowler, filling his office with his trophies.
The family wishes to thank Cathryn and her Home Health Aids: Nadezda, Sharlene, Christine, Anzhela, and Nicole; all of the Visiting Nurse Service and Social Services from Rochester Regional Health; and his Physical Therapist John, for their care at the end of his life.
A special "Thank You" to Pat and Jerry Guisto for being the kind of family members we all hope to be; and to his Penfield golfing friends, especially Denny Ferstler and Art Heald.
For any out there who may be feeling guilty about missing the funeral because you are out golfing...don't. If he had a tee time he wouldn't feel guilty about missing yours.
Calling hours will be from 3pm -7pm Thursday, December 21st at Falvo's Funeral Home in Webster.
Funeral will be 12:30pm Friday, December 22nd at St. Joseph's Parish in Penfield followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to St. Joseph's Parish in Penfield.
