Obituary of Leon A. Wiater

Leon Anthony Wiater

Of Penfield, NY, was born in Rochester, NY on February 17th 1933 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 10th 2023. 

A United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War in Germany, and a long standing member of the Melvin Michalski NY Post 1328 Polish American Club, where he was Post Commander for several years. 

After returning from his Military service he attended Niagara University graduating in 1959 with a degree in Business. During his career he worked for Xerox, Maplecrest Foods and later established Wiater Real Estate where he worked until he retired. 

He enjoyed growing many plants both indoor and out, bringing him great joy. Leon shared a love for all animals, a trait he has passed on to his children.

Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, always making sure everyone had something to drink soon after you’d arrive. You could also bet he’d give an enthusiastic “oh baby!” as any dessert was being served, especially if it was homemade by his wife.  

He is survived by his wife Yvonne and their two children, Alex (Sheena) Wiater and Adam (Jeyhan Kartaltepe) Wiater. Along with his two other children Erica Wiater-Cobb and Todd Wiater. His brother, Ron (Rose Marie) Wiater along with many beloved nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Anthony & Helen (Butkiewicz) Wiater; brother, Richard Wiater; sister, Dorothy and brother in law, Phillip Wrubleski.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 4-7pm at Falvo Funeral Home (1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt Rd. Webster, NY 14580)
