Obituary of Charles F. Knowland

Chuck Knowland

April 1st 1941 – June 6th, 2023

It is with great sadness to announce Charles F. Knowland passed away peacefully at home.  He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon; children Tim and Kristen (Brenton) McNeil; beloved grandson, Ethan McNeil; sister Kathleen Knowland; Sister-in-law, Deborah Hoffman; brothers-in-law, Daniel Hoffman and Richard (Kevin) Orcutt; Nephews, Christopher Tirinato, John Robert (Karin) Tirinato and Joshua (Jamie) Hoffman; niece, Caitlin (Jon) Durfey; three great nieces and three great nephews.

Chuck was born in Syracuse, NY on April 1st, 1941. He graduated from RIT and worked at Kodak in the integrated chip industry for over 25 years. Chuck took pride in his work and enjoyed consulting during retirement.

Chuck had an absolute passion for sports and was extremely competitive. He loved playing tennis at the Tennis Club of Rochester (TCR) where he made many friends that he cherished. He took great joy in organizing, planning and bringing people together. He loved football (go Bills and SU!), basketball and golf.

Chuck spent a lot of time on the family’s genealogy and had mapped out a substantial family history. He absolutely loved movies, particularly vintage classic movies. He enjoyed the silent films which he had a collection of on his DVR.  He loved watching concert footage spanning multiple genres and loved music in general.

Chuck was a social butterfly and had the ability to make friends very easily, he was loved by everyone he came in contact with. He had a positive presence about him, kind, friendly, likeable with abundant light humor that put people at ease. He was a family man and the best husband and father anyone could have ever hoped for. Chuck was a shining light in our lives. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.

Chuck left this world sitting in his favorite chair, in his treasured backyard, on a beautiful spring day.

Those wishing to celebrate Chuck’s life and friendship can do so on Saturday, June 17th, from 2-4pm with a service at 4pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt. Rd. Webster, N.Y. 14580. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Chuck's name to Lollypop Farm and/or the American Heart Association.
