Great to see memories regarding St. Joseph's Tables and Cursillo, just a couple of my beloved Uncle Pete and Aunt Dolores' many activities across the Catholic Diocese of Rochester. I wrote about them in a blog post a few years ago for the Catholic Courier, which I have linked. For those interested, a memorial Mass for Uncle Pete is being planned by Rochester Cursillo at St. Leo Church in Hilton. Anybody interested in attending can reach me at 585-451-7556 and I can pass along the date and time when it's finalized.
I love you so much, Uncle Pete. Thanks to all my wonderful cousins for the tremendous care you gave your parents these past few years!

Mr. Latona was my 6th grade teacher at Number #1 School back in 1967-68. He was the 1st male teacher that any of us ever had and I remember we were all a little nervous on the 1st day of school. But he quickly put all of our fears to rest and made our 6th grade year our best! It was our last year at #1 before "graduating" and moving on to junior high and we could not have asked for a better teacher or mentor to guide us through and ready us for the transition. He was always so kind and helpful. Those of us that were fortunate enough to be in his class that year learned so much from him and were truly blessed that he was our teacher. I was sorry to hear of his passing and send my sincere condolences to his family and friends. I can only imagine how much he will be missed.

Pete and Dolores were a beautiful part of our Cursillo community. Although we will miss them we rejoice that they are in Heaven together with the God they loved so much. They not only witnessed to the Gospel...they became the Gospel. We were blessed to have known and loved them. De Colores!

Mr. Latona was my teacher at Number One in the year 1976-1977. He was a great teacher and kind-hearted too. We had a simulated market, where we could earn simulated money by doing extra work or chores, and then spend it on real stuff each week during "store" time and several times a year at auctions. I still have an old book I bought at one auction. I had some social difficulties that year, being younger than everyone else, and Mr. Latona was always supportive. A great teacher and a great man.

Mr. Latona, as I knew him was my sixth grade teacher he will never know what a difference it made to me to have him as a teacher, he took time with me after school because I struggled with math. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t of learned my times tables due to my dyslexia. I considered him my favorite teacher ever. My condolences to his family. He truly was a wonderful man. School #1
