When I visited from Australia with my husband and young children in 2009 we would go to Wegman’s to pick up supplies and every time my husband or I picked something to place in the shopping cart Zia Vera would say ‘we got it’. Where she stored it I have no idea. She seemed to have everything! Like my parents, she saw poverty and hunger as a child so as adults who had left Italy for a better life, they made sure there was always ample food in the house. I will miss you zia but the many memories created in both my trips to see you and your trip to Australia will live on.

My deepest and sincere condolences to Elvira's family. I have thousands of memories of the Vaccaro family growing up so close and always together. Our friendship turned out more like family then anything else.. Please find comfort in knowing she was loved and will be missed and that she has left a print in my life & on my heart.
