Obituary of Rose Valente

At age 93, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022. Rose was born on November 21, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Teresa Bonasia Santacesaria and Nicolo Santacesaria.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul, her sisters, Anna and Josephine, brothers Vince and Vito. Rose grew up in Monopoli, Bari, Italy, marrying her childhood sweetheart, Paul in October 1952. She later arrived in New York City entering Ellis Island aboard the ship, Andrea Doria, in 1953, after traveling for 10 days while pregnant awaiting the arrival of her husband Paul six months later. Rose and Paul built a new life together in the United States raising their family and seeking new opportunity for themselves and their children. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a woman of a strong love of faith and family.

Rose is survived by her four children, Frank (Ellen) Valente, Laura (Richard) Canori, Theresa (David) Parlet, Nick (Amy) Valente; grandchildren, Kara (Eli), Oliver (Amanda), Eva (Scott), Joseph (Amy), Marissa, Matthew (Jennifer), Jessica (Allen), Danielle, Paul (Clare); 13 great grandchildren; her sisters in law, Maria Valente and Janet Santacesaria; and brother-in-law, George Dalo. Also, two sisters -in-law, Ana and Antoinetta of Italy; several nieces and nephews in the US and Italy. She had a special bond with her nephew, Dr. Ben Tarantino who was always there for her.

Rose was a homemaker, seamstress and excellent cook. She worked at Hickey Freeman, Bonds Clothing and Bausch and Lomb. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff at St. Ann's Community for their loving care and compassion and to all her caregivers.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, November 30, 4-7 pm at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fpt. Nine Mile Pt Rd. Webster. On Thursday, please meet the family at 10:30 am at St. Ambrose Church for her Funeral Mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre.
