Obituary of Lawrence V. DiRienzo Sr.
Age 91 Larry passed away peacefully, on July 19, 2022. He is predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Rose DiRienzo; sister, Patricia; son, Lawrence V DiRienzo Jr.; grandson, Lawrence V DiRienzo III. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean (Ciardi) DiRienzo; sister, Betty Puleo; daughters, Christine (Christopher) Peets and Susan (Greg) Duane; grandchildren, Megan Duane, Brenden (Jessica) Willcox, Jessica DiRienzo, Tyler (Andrea) Willcox, Jesse Duane and great grandchildren, Marc and Chloe Willcox; sister-in law, Mary Maggio; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is a graduate of Aquinas and RIT. He spent his professional career at Garlock, Dollinger Corp. and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.
Early in life Larry’s natural talent on the saxophone became his passion. He enjoyed sharing his love of music with friends and family, taking it with him through his service during the Korean Conflict, as a member of the US Army band. He continued to play sax into his 80s, while performing in his band Nostalgic Reunion, in addition to the Kodak Concert Band and the Greece Concert Band. Larry’s love of music was second only to his love of family, cherishing frequent family gatherings and laughing with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, skiing and spending time with his cherished wife, Jean. His kindness and smile will be sadly missed.
Larry’s Memorial Mass will be held on August 13, at 11AM at St John of Rochester Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors or Honor Flight.
