Obituary of Joseph Nicastro

Joseph Nicastro, a resident of Punta Gorda, FL, and Rochester, NY, passed away on March 29, 2022, at the age of 82.  He was born on August 18, 1939, in Aidone, Sicily, to Mary (Renda) and Giacinto Nicastro.

Joe moved from Sicily to Rochester at the age of 14.  He had a long, successful career with Wegmans Food Markets, retiring in 1999 as manager of the Penfield store, where he could often be found having coffee with friends in the years since.  Following his retirement, Joe and his wife, Connie, spent most of the year in Florida, enjoying the sunshine.  Joe was an avid golfer, gardener, and storyteller.  He loved to cook Italian food and spend time with his family, often hosting big Sunday dinners and holiday parties with his wife.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Phyllis, and his brothers Thomas, Larry, and John.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Connie; his three children, Dawn Moss (Andrew Manning), Joseph (Kelly), and Andrea (Michael Schuster); his four granddaughters, Emily, Lauren, and Rebecca Nicastro, and Quentin Schuster; sister-in-law Darlene Nicastro; brother-in-law Stefano Sorci (Bonnie Fazio); brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Fay Privatera; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation calling hours for Joe are from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, May 13, at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd, Webster, NY, 14580. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 14, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 1355 Hatch Rd, Webster, NY 14580.
