Obituary of David E. Crane
DAVID E. CRANE
Webster November 5, 1932 – November 9, 2021
Dave passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 9th with family by his side. He is predeceased by his son Stephen Crane, daughter-n-law Sarah and brother James Crane.
He is survived by his loving wife, of sixty-four years, Millie Crane, daughter Susan (Gary) Merkel, daughter-n-law Diana Crane, grandchildren Brittany Merkel, Courtney Crane, William Merkel, Emily Crane, 5 great grandsons, sister-n-laws, cousins , many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dave was a graduate of Edison Tech High School and a veteran of the Air Force serving four years in Korea. He returned to Rochester to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology earning an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering and the University of Rochester to complete his Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Business.
Dave began his career working as an engineer for General Dynamics Corporation; followed by Xerox Corporation for an additional seventeen years. In 1981, Dave became an entrepreneur, purchasing and running the North Country Lodge in Pittsburg, NH. Dave was an active member of his community; teaching classes at the local colleges, selling real estate, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He retired at the age of seventy-five working an additional 15 years at Western Regional Off-Track Betting.
Dave was an avid sailor and outdoors man. He spent many hours going on walks in the woods and building tree houses with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services and Interment were held privately with close family and friends. Donations may be made in his memory to Strong Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Rochester NY.
