Obituary of Josephine M. Kuis

Josephine M. (Engel) Kuis Rochester, NY. Passed away on October 30th, 2021. She is predeceased by Her Parents, Michael and Josephine Engel, her husband: Anthony Edward Kuis, sister Ann DeBoissiere, brother Michael Engel. Survived by daughter Denise (Edward) Indovina and son Charles (Rachael) Renaudette. Nieces and Nephews : Daniel DeBoissiere, Joanne Bonura, Michele Martino, Lisa Engel-Brown, and Chris Engel. Grandchildren: Shanda Santana, Jennifer Duffy, Shawn Maloney, and Anthony Renaudette. Great grandchildren: Leticia, Antonio,Jalissa, Chloe, Elijah, and Evyan.

Born in New York, NY on August 31, 1928. She met her husband Anthony at the Christodora House in New York. Married Anthony on October 4th, 1947. Josephine worked at Chase Manhattan bank in Manhattan, NY and Anthony worked at Metropolitan Life. They later decided to get rid of the city life where they settled in the Catskills. There they raised two children Charles and Denise while working at the Sullivan County Community College. In her later years after losing her husband she followed her daughter and grandchildren to Rochester, NY. She is now joined with her husband and siblings after a long productive life raising her children and grandchildren.

Mom will be remembered for her love of life, she enjoyed Broadway shows, Bingo, Pottery, and would read a book a day especially if it was a romance novel . She loved animals especially dogs and would often say they are nicer than people. She loved spending time with her children , grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic and in her earlier years was very instrumental in the Church and volunteered her time working Food Share programs, Various fundraisers . While we will miss her terribly, we know she is now at peace in heaven.
