Obituary of Dolores R. Latona
Mom went to her heavenly home on August 6th, 2021.
Predeceased by her parents Albert and Genevieve Ranieri, her brothers John (Irene) and Richard (Janice).
Survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Peter; her children Lewis, Laurie (Enzo) DiLorenzo, Lynn (Larry) Johnson, Lisa Aggas, Leslie, and Larry (Rachelle); 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, 5 sisters; also many nieces and nephews.
Dolores attended Brockport College where she studied elementary education, graduated and became an elementary school teacher.
After raising her six children, she returned to full time teaching where she taught kindergarten, pre-first, and first grade through her 25 year career.
Dolores realized that all children do not learn in the same manner, when she became aware many students were having trouble learning to read, Dolores created and developed a specialized curriculum.
The Rochester City School District recognized her efforts and awarded her Teacher of the Year.
After an early retirement, she volunteered her time in many ministries that were dear to her heart,
Including Prison Ministry, Cursillo, Clown Ministry through the Holy Trinity Youth Group, Stephen’s Ministry, Knight’s of Columbus Treasurer, and Eucharistic Minister.
Eventually Dolores and Peter purchased a place in Florida where they spent ten years traveling between NY and Florida as snowbirds.
Dolores was inducted into the 2001 Webster Hall of Fame as Woman of the Year.
She was always sure to put God first and then her family.
Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and her kindhearted generous spirit will live on through them.
