Richard John Metzger “Dick”

 

WEBSTER—On March 14, 2021, Richard passed after a brief battle with Glioblastoma at 62 years of age. Predeceased by his father Robert G. Metzger, stepfather Paul Metzger, mother-in-law Mary Cutaia, father-in-law Joseph Cutaia, sister-in-law Elaine Crispino, uncles James and Robert Mercel, and aunt Dorothy Mercel. Survived by his wife of 40 years JoAnn (Cutaia), daughters Katie (Trevor) Kriewall and Chelsea (Jeremy) Wernick, grandchildren Carson and Lainey Kriewall and Jay Wernick, mother Lois Metzger, brothers Robert (Marcia) and Thomas (Eileen) Metzger, sister Suzanne Metzger, stepsister Susan Metzger, stepmother-in-law Dorothy Foley-Cutaia, brother-in-law Gary (Heidi) Cutaia, sister-in-law Mary Frances (Mike) Cummings, stepsister-in-laws Eileen (Drew) Foley-Tometsko and Colleen (Tom) Foley-Ingersoll, stepbrother-in-law Thomas Foley, aunt Judy Mercel, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

 

Richard was a graduate of RIT and the former Executive Engineer at the Monroe County Water Authority. He was a well-respected leader that was integral in the design of the Webster Water Treatment Plant. Richard was an avid triathlete who enjoyed participating in many local, national and international races. His passion for racing landed him in 13th place for Team USA at the ITU Multisport World Championships in 2017. 

 

He was a dedicated, kind and loving husband, father and grandfather that would do anything for his family. His greatest accomplishment was building a beautiful life with JoAnn, his girls, and their growing families. 

 

Calling hours are Sunday, March 21st from 12-5 pm at Falvo Funeral Home located at 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road in Webster.
