Obituary of Edward August Oette
Webster: Edward August Oette, 80, of Webster, New York, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in Rochester, New York surrounded by his family. Ed (“Eddie, Dad, Papi, Uncle, Grandpa”) was born on April 1, 1940 in Rochester. Ed graduated in 1958 from Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester and earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1963.
Ed worked in the Rochester City School District Design Group as a Mechanical Engineer for over 30 years. He shared his love of engineering and science with his daughters. He enjoyed woodworking, birdwatching, solving the newspaper jumble, reading about history and the natural sciences, and traveling with his wife and family. His faith in Christ was central to his life and he loved listening to hymns and reading the Scriptures. He was a devoted husband and deeply loved his family. His tenderness, generosity, intelligence, and wisdom will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Cristina (née Corsica) Oette. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 44 years, Kathleen (née Finn); his daughters Sharon (Brent) Raitz of Brunswick, Ohio and Renée (Andrew) Schoch of Westborough, Massachusetts; grandchildren (Hannah, Hailey, Mikayla, Everett, Grant), brother William (Linda) of Irondequoit; niece Erica (Michael) Hackett of Rochester; sister-in-law Barbara (Paul) Truscello of Braintree, Massachusetts.
A private funeral will be held at Falvo Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Raitz officiating. Private interment will be at Webster Union Cemetery.
