I had the pleasure of knowing Mickey through our lives at the Stuart M. Townsend Middle School for over twenty years. She was devoted to her library and supporting all of us who used it. Mickey shared her classroom space with me for several years. After that we had classrooms next to each other. We carpooled as well. I got to hear about her extended family and how much they meant to her. Mickey was always on the go outside of school - camp, family celebrations, Sweet Adelines, library committees, and many more that I cannot remember. I would often tease her about how many packed suitcases she had in her trunk. That always made her giggle.
After both of us retired, we would meet, sometimes for lunch, sometimes for outings. We bowled in leagues together. I will miss her support, friendship and book referrals. My thoughts and prayers are with Chuck and Jim and the rest of her family. Rest in Peace, Mickey, a life well-lived.

I have had the honor of knowing Mickey for more than 30 years. When I began teaching at SMTMS, she was one of the first to welcome me. My room was near the media center, so if I had a question or needed a word of encouragement, she was nearby. She was a bright woman who loved books, and shared that love with not only the students, but with her colleagues as well.
She spoke lovingly of her family at home. She knew she could count on Chuck and Jim to keep her going. She would tell us how all of the nieces and nephews and their families were doing. She looked forward to summers at the camp because she knew she would make new memories and watch the little ones grow.
Mickey would have her car packed and ready to go when she was heading to Rochester. She was always in a hurry to see her family. Sometimes even being reminded by policemen that she needed to slow down!
I will miss Mickey. We not only worked together, we bowled together and would meet for lunch to catch up. She and I shared out Catholic beliefs and had conversations that were meaningful to both of us.
We both shared a love for the Peppermill. It isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a family gathering place. She loved the lemon pie! The owners and staff enjoyed her visits.
I know Mickey is in a better place. It comforts me knowing she is reunited with her parents whom she spoke of often and lovingly.
I offer my thoughts and prayers to your family. God bless you all in the coming days as you say goodbye to Mickey. May she Rest In Peace until we meet again.
