Obituary of Michael S. Sciolino
Michael S. Sciolino of Webster NY (Boynton Beach, FL) passed away peacefully on Monday, 8/24/20.
Michael is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carol (Miale), his children Rosann (Joseph Gallea), Stephen (Nora), Mary Carol and Michael (Darlene). Grandchildren Gary Zeppatella (Gina), Joey Gallea, Elizabeth (David Horning), Matthew (Kimberly), Brenda Simko, Michael, Christopher, Allen Germano, Adam Germano and Corey (Meredith) Hazen; great-grandchildren, Giavanna, Gemma, Brittany, William, Julia, Kaylee, Maya, Mae and Jacob, siblings, Mary Pellegrino, Joseph, and Anthony (Gloria), numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Charlie.
Michael was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War on the USS Leyte and USS Gilbert Island. He devoted 33 years to the Life and Health Insurance business as a Certified Financial Planner, and Chartered Life Underwriter.
Dad enjoyed volunteering his time teaching Pre-Cana at St. Rita’s parish in Webster, NY and Mended Hearts at the JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. He was an avid golfer and bowler who also enjoyed building detailed model ships and grandfather clocks. Dad spent countless hours on beautiful counted cross stich artworks which he generously shared with family and friends. He had a fondness for trains both for travel and creating a model layout in his Penfield NY basement. Dad traveled to 48 states as well as many European and Asian countries both during his military service and for pleasure with his wife and family. Later in life, he was often found doting over his bromeliad collection on his lanai in Boynton Beach. He was grateful to be recognized for his military service with an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2017.
Above all, Dad loved his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother and friend. We are comforted by the fact that we know he is at peace with his parents in heaven and we will see him again.
