Obituary of Fred D. Zambito

Fred D. Zambito

Irondequoit - May 31, 2020

Predeceased by his wife and love of his life: Sadie (Germano) Zambito, his parents, Dorothy and Joseph Zambito and siblings Ann Palmeroni, Sam Zambito, Frances Moon and Pauline Pautz. Survived by his children: Todd (Kathleen) Zambito, Shelley (Jeffrey) Bierworth; grandchildren Samantha (Mike), Danielle (Tony), Lindsey and Justine (Christopher); Sister-in-law, Mayme Maccarone and brother-in-law, Sam (Denise) Germano; Great-grandchildren: Morgan and Anthony. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts and an uncle that he adored and enjoyed visiting with! He had so many wonderful friends and neighbors that he was proud to know! And we can't forget his companion and dog-granddaughter, Nova!

Fred was in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany, where he was a mechanic. He had many stories of how his mechanical skills would help him heat up food on an engine of his Jeep or set up lights in his tent. He was the envy of his fellow soldiers and command staff! When he came home he worked at Pfauldler. He eventually gave in to his passion and began his mechanical career working on cars. Soon he would realize his dream of owning his own gas station on Clifford Avenue.

His second life-career would be driving a school bus. This would turn out to be a perfect fit for him as he made many friends who would sit and enjoy trying to solve the worlds' problems at the McDonalds on E. Ridge Rd. This career lasted until he was 80 years old. His work ethic and dedication were unparalleled.

There are many stories about Fred that share a common theme and that is that he helped a lot people over his 90 years. For those of you that know him, his most known attribute was that gorgeous head of hair that was envied by all even at the age of 91!

He was the most dedicated husband, father and grandfather that anyone could imagine. His loss is felt by everyone who knew this!

A special thank you to his many wonderful aids through Elder One and Embrace Care. These people made him feel very special and like a member of their own family. God Bless you all!

Donations can be made in Fred's memory to Honor Flight (PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692 or Veterans Outreach Center (447 South Ave. Rochester, NY 14620)- but more importantly, be kind and respectful to everyone in order to honor Fred.
