Obituary of Arthur A. Agnello
Arthur A. Agnello, of Rochester, died January 4, 2020, at age 93. Pre-deceased by his parents, Salvatore and Giovannina, his wife of 28 years, Marguerite (Peluso), brothers Emanuel and Eugene, and sisters Antoinette (Pomeroy), Mary (Murabito), and Adeline (Bruno). He is survived by his brother Robert (Manchester, MA); his loving partner of 40 years, Frances Carrathers; children Arthur (Ellen), Catherine (Paul), Christine (Michael) Hofmann, Richard (Stacey), Jean (Ronald), and Mary; grandchildren Michael Navarro, Nora Brown, Mark Agnello, Greenlee Brown, Daniel Hofmann, David Brown, Samuel Agnello, Jenna Hofmann, and Emily Agnello; great-grandchildren Zachary and Vivienne Navarro; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born and raised in Rochester, Arthur attended East High School, and entered the Army in 1944, serving in the infantry in Germany and, as a trombone player, in the 88th AGF Band, where he oversaw USO band assignments around Paris.
Arthur attended Union College in Schenectady and graduated from Cornell Law School in 1951; he had a general law practice in Rochester for nearly 60 years, where he was well known in the downtown Four Corners area. Clients and friends alike were always welcome at Art's office, whether to consult on legal matters or just to be entertained by his stories. He had a love of music, travel, the cinema, and family dinners. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Monroe Community Hospital for their dedicated care and attention over the past year.
