Barb was born on March 23, 1933 in Indiana, PA the daughter of Saba Shatara and Elizabeth Saba Shatara. Barb grew up in Bradford, PA and attended college at Alfred University in Alfred, New York on a full scholarship.  She graduated class of 1955 with a Liberal Arts degree majoring in English & History and a minor in French. Barb moved to Rochester, NY and was a teacher before moving to Webster, NY where she raised her family and retired from Xerox.

Barb was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Church and sang in their church choir for many years.  She had immeasurable faith and fully embraced her beautiful singing voice with her church choir in the summer months at Holy Trinity. Being a snow bird for the past 20 years, she attended St. Alfred’s Episcopal Church of Palm Harbor, FL with her sister Miriam and of course sang in the choir. Barb was also a long time original member of the Melo-Wives, a harmony entertaining group of loving friends traveling all over Webster and for many years performing at the NYS Fair. Also a long time member of the Rochester German Saenger Chor, performing all over Rochester entertaining and fund raising. The group traveled to Germany a couple times and Barbara hosted numerous German families vacationing in Webster.

A soul, with a song in her heart, is forever in ours.  Raising five children with a song in her heart she made our family feel so much love. Her love and devotion to her family and friends was a natural gift she had. She loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Barb will be missed by so many.
