Salvatore Frank Pullara
Rochester, NY - A hush settled on Rochester's music scene and beyond with the passing of this eminent jazz bassist on February 12, 2019. Frank began his musical career playing clarinet at age twelve in professional bands. His sublime talents enabled him to master guitar, piano and bass. As a young man, after having performed in Las Vegas, he was featured in Kai Winding's band. Frank's abilities as a composer, arranger and remarkable improviser were spotlighted in his many appearances and recordings with other jazz giants: Sal Nistico, Joe Romano, Kathy Dodge, Barry Kiener, Dave Mancini, Jeff Tyzik, Steve Gadd, and Chuck and Gap Mangione.
Frank was a proud, loving father to his daughters Lisbeth Pullara-Goossen (Christopher) and Jen Pullara Blake and his grandson Jacey D. Blake. He is survived by his former wife and devoted friend, Roz Pullara (Barbara Adams); brother Santo Pullara, sister Jennie Arena; beloved nephews, Andrew, Donald and David Arena; beloved nieces Christine, Benita and Regina Pullara; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
