Obituary of Eleanore R. Skizim

Eleanore Rosalie (Dozack) Skizim, born on September 16, 1926 in Throop, Pennsylvania, passed away at age 92 on January 9, 2019 in Webster, NY. Eleanore was the beloved wife of the late Chester Skizim. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Andrew Dozack, and brother, Andrew Dozack.   

Chester and Eleanore were married on September 28, 1946. They lived in Throop until 1958 at which time they relocated to Elmira, NY where they raised their family. They retired to Vero Beach, FL in 2002. In 2017, Eleanore moved to Webster, NY, living out the rest of her life at Maplewood Nursing Home.

Eleanore was an exceptional seamstress, an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting items for the local hospitals. She enjoyed dancing and being the center of attention at social events. She was known for her fashion sense, wearing high heels and having a contagious laugh.

Eleanore is survived by two sons, Gregory (Loren) of Penfield, NY, and Daniel (Martha) of The Hills, TX; sister, Alice Graham of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren Elena, Nicholas (Siobhan), Meg (Blake) Wittenberg; great grandson, Jacob; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Interment will be in Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira, NY at a future date.
