Obituary of Rose Iacona
Rose "Pecky" Iacona
Fairport - March 29, 1926 - March 10, 2018
Rose Iacona entered into eternal life on the morning of March 10, 2018 at Solstice Retirement Home in Fairport with her family at her bedside a few weeks before her 92nd birthday.
Rose was born on March 29, 1926 in Rochester, New York, the youngest of five siblings. Her Italian immigrant parents, Anthony and Jennie Pecora challenged their children to help build a life in the New World. This wasn't an easy task during the Great Depression. Rose emerged as a strong partner with skills that would help her later in life build a solid, cohesive family of her own.
With the backdrop of hope that surged in post war America, Rose married Vincent James Iacona. Never ones to expect more than their share they lived simple lives. They bought a house on Rosemary Drive in Rochester where they raised two sons and made many friends. Rose and Vince remained happily married for over 50 years. They were inseparable from marriage through retirement until Vince's death several years ago.
For 23 years Rose worked in the credit department at Sibley's Department Store. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church on Portland Ave. and St. John of Rochester Catholic Church in Fairport. Rose enjoyed board games of all kinds, often beating her friends at Rummikub.
A tireless partner, Rose was always willing and able to help others, even without being asked. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Above all she loved her family. Nothing made her happier than having the family together for a picnic or the holidays. All of her gatherings were made better by her terrific cooking. Rose worked selflessly her entire life to help the people she loved. And they loved her too.
Rose is survived by two sons Thomas (Catherine) Iacona and James Iacona, four grandchildren Kisa, Luca, Michael (Nika) and Brian (Zoe), two great grandchildren Ella and Henry, Vince's two brothers Louis(Betty, deceased) Iacona and Thomas (Jane) Iacona and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass in Rose's honor will be held at St John of Rochester Catholic Church in Fairport on March 16, 2018 at 11am. Entombment White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to UR Medicine Homecare Hospice (2180 Empire Blvd Webster, NY 14580) or St John of Rochester Church in Fairport. (8 Wickford Way Fairport, NY 14450)
