Obituary of Dudley Jenks Adamson

Jenks Dudley Adamson Fairport: Heard the voice of God and went to be with Jesus Wed. Nov. 9th. Survived by his wife of 54 years and love of his life, Annette "Joy" Jenks; children, Richard (Susan) Jenks, Jeannette (Steven) Brower & Lyndsay (Andrew) Hanchett ; grandchildren, Jessica (Rob), Keith, Trevor, Aaron, James, Olivia, Mark, Emma (Wes) and Eveline. Dudley was an Army Air Corps Veteran in WWll where he served as a Sgt. and Weather Observer in Alaska. He obtained a Bachelors degree from Amherst College and Masters degrees from Temple University and Columbia University. His employment included Asst. Dean of Men at Drexel College (where he met and fell in love with Joy), College Recruiter at General Dynamics, Travelers Insurance, Guidance Counselor at Hilton Central Schools and Security Guard at Xerox. A former Webster School Board member, he later in life volunteered in the Webster Central School District reading to Elementary children. He was a past President of The Rochester Full Gospel Businessmen Assoc. and a recent participant in the Honor Flight program of Rochester. Growing up and throughout his life, he relished spending time in Maine at his family's homes in Naples and Boothbay Harbor, eating lobster, swimming and the smell of pine trees. He manned and sailed many a sloop up the New England coast with his college buddies in younger years, was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan and thoroughly loved his desserts, especially chocolate. A man of integrity and endless wisdom, his true treasure was in the love of his family and The Lord. He knew how to listen. He loved people. A "gentle giant" of a man, his words were few but heartfelt and always made you think. He walked quietly with The Lord with unwavering faith and devotion. His life was filled with many humble sacrifices from which he gave freely of himself. With his whole heart he placed The Lord and his family first. To know him was to love him. To have been loved by him is a gift beyond measure. The family wishes to thank Benincasa Hospice for the care and respect they gave Dudley in his final days on earth, the Medical staff and care givers at RGH., Pastor and Dudley's "buddy" Samme Palermo of Oasis Christian Fellowship and all of his many dear friends for their love. Family and friends are invited to call Sunday, 11/13, from 2-6pm at Falvo Funeral Home 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Pt. Rd Webster. A Memorial service and celebration of Dudley's life will be on Mon.
