Gumina,Rosemary (Romie) (nee Camelio)
Webster, NY: passed peacefully at the hospital surrounded by her family on July 14, 2017, age 81.
Romie is predeceased by her sister, Frances Williams, and son, Carl (Rick) Gumina, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carl (Dick) Gumina, brother, Gennaro (Ellen) Camelio, and her four sons, Rory (Janet), Greg (Priscilla), Carmen (Sheri), and Buddy (Andrea)and daughter in-law, Judy Walton. She will always be the greatest Nina to 12 grandchildren, Jamie (Rob), Josh (Jen), Ricky, and Joey Gumina, Justin (Emily) and Tyler Gumina, Jack Gumina, Gracie and Adriana Gumina, and Christopher, James, and Katherine Gumina. She is Great Nina to 3 great grandchildren, Layla Gumina, and Zachary and Maya Brewer. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and dear friends.
Romie was devoted to her family, faith and caring for others, and was active within the Holy Trinity church community. Her family will miss her sense of humor and incredible ability to listen and love unconditionally, as well as her wonderful cooking. While Romie spent much of her time raising her children, she also had a long career at Xerox, and even obtained an associate’s degree later in life, reflecting the importance she placed on education.
She battled illness for the last 30 years, but never complained. Rather, she focused on her children and grandchildren as that always made her feel better. She will be missed, but her spirit and the lessons of selfless love that she imparted to her family and friends will not be forgotten.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 27, 4-8pm at Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Road, (Rte 250) Webster, NY 14580. Romie’s funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, July 28, 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Road, Webster, NY 14580. Showing the same selflessness in death as in life, Romie donated her body to the University of Rochester Medical School and, as a result, interment will be held at a later date.
