Obituary of Archie L. Lerch

Lerch, Archie L. Passed peacefully on 3/22/16 at age 93. He was born in Rochester on May 23, 1922. Predeceased by his brothers, Warren, Charles and Edward. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jane (Paul), son, William (Ann) of Bozeman, MT, daughter Linda Lerch (Smith) of Webster. Four grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan and Rachel Smith, and Charlie Lerch, special cousin June “Betty Lou” Kiske, nieces and nephews. In WWII, Archie served in the US Army Air Corp as a B-24 Pilot flying many combat missions over Europe. After the war, he attended Lehigh University. He had a successful 42 year career at Eastman Kodak in the Film Emulsion Division. After retirement Archie’s love of animals led to a part time position with the Animal Control Department in his hometown of Penfield. Archie and Jane enjoyed several years as snow birds in Clearwater, Florida. Archie was an avid tennis player, took pride in his yard and enjoyed telling stories and corny jokes. In 2012 Archie was accompanied by his daughter on Honor Flight of Rochester. The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Maplewood for their exceptional care and compassion. They also wish to thank friends Reggie Henderson Jr. and Tom and Judy Mahoney for their many visits which meant so much. A Celebration of Archie's life will be held on June 18th 2:30 PM at The All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Pk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Honor Flight Rochester.
