Robert Polito

Obituary of Robert J. Polito

Polito, Robert J. Webster: May 25, 2015, age 74. Born of his parents, Joseph & Sally Polito on May 21, 1941. He was also predeceased by his sister, Carolyn. Survived by his brothers, Charles Polito of FL, William (Marie) Polito, and Joseph (Marianne) Polito of FL; nephews & nieces, Charles Polito, Charlene Mottler, Robert Polito, Thomas Polito, Lisa Nicolay, William Polito & Joseph Polito; also several great-nieces & great-nephews. Bob was the third oldest of four boys, born and raised in Northeast Rochester. Upon graduation from Aquinas, he joined the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era, where he served with distinction for four years as a specialist in servicing and repairing jet engines, for which he received a special commendation. After his discharge from the military, he put himself through Geneseo State College, earning a teaching degree. Again, he served the community with distinction for 28 years teaching mathematics to the Rochester City School District students at Marshall, Charlotte, and Edison Tech High Schools, but his greatest accomplishment occurred after his retirement in 1996-- his love of his family. He was the primary caregiver for his elderly parents, and when his father passed, he continued to care for his mother for 15 years. He was also a strong force in assisting his brothers in raising their families, and he developed a special close and loving relationship with his nieces & nephews, and grand-nieces & nephews. Until his sudden passing, he was an active golfer-- three times a week at two local golf leagues. He participated in various community functions and charities, was an active member of the American Legion, a Third Degree Knight of Columbus at Webster Trinity Council, and St. Rita's Church, however he considered his love for God, his Catholic faith, and his assistance to his family as his most significant. Calling MONDAY, 4-8 PM at the Falvo Funeral Home, 1295 Fairport Nine Mile Point Rd. (Webster, Rte. 250). On TUESDAY, family & friends are asked to go directly to St. Rita's Church (1008 Maple Dr., Webster) for the Celebration of his Funeral Mass at 9:15 AM. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
