Obituary of Nelson Peck
Peck, Nelson
Rochester:
Friday, February 20, with his sweetheart of 68 years Myrtle (Jones) by his side.
Predeceased by Nelson Peck, father, Annie Sesseman, mother, and Edward Peck, brother.
He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle; his brother Roy (Dorris) Peck, his sisters-in-law, Betty (Robert) Bishop and Dorothy Buscemi; and his three children, Nelson (Joanne) Peck, Myrtle (Dominick) Fantauzzo and Donna (Michael) Wobser; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A child of the Great Depression and a member of America's Greatest Generation, he answered his nation's call at 17 by joining the U.S. Navy. He crossed the Atlantic supplying the Allies with needed resources aboard a Liberty ship. He was wounded in the course of duty and he volunteered tirelessly throughout his life to help his fellow disabled veterans. He was recognized for this lifelong service by the Disabled American Veterans (Charity). After the war, he started a family with his beautiful wife Myrtle. He worked and retired from Kodak after 27 years. He enjoyed camping and square dancing and will forever be remembered for his boyish smile and laughter. He loved being surrounded by his family; especially children. He was there for his family in times of need and he never took any wooden nickels.
